Marsha Mehran: An open verdict

SCROLL

I was commissioned to record interviews for a radio documentary, broadcast on Ireland’s RTÉ Radio 1 program Documentary On One in 2016.

The program looked at the tragic story of the Iranian born writer, Marsha Mehran.

Acclaimed for her first book Pomegranate Soup, Marsha died inexplicably in a small cottage on the West Coast of Ireland in 2014, alone and in deep poverty.

When Gardai entered a holiday bungalow on Mayo’s Northwest coast in April 2014, they found a scene of desperation and solitude. Scattered amongst the rubbish lay the body of Marsha Mehran, 36. She’d been living as a recluse and died alone.
